dungeon23 week 31 - the beginning of the one that went on too long

This week I decided that I would try to make a proper dungeon - you know, one that had several levels and a goal at the end. This is specifically the sort of thing that I have never managed and have always been bored by way before the end, but maybe I'd not tried hard enough? ๐
Rolling a theme, I got that the dungeon was a decadent/elegant one created by a hero to gather a resource, which fell because of a devastating sickness, and the last denizens were "madmen". I rolled "petrification" as a theme twice and decided that there was some sickness that petrified people.
On this top level though there wasn't all that much reference to that, and it's quite a "straight" level. The demon trapped by the hero as long as they could be beaten at games, I'm fond of, that's quite classic stuff but not too cliched. There is foreshadowing that multiple people have been petrified, possibly with some warning, though that's open to interpretation - in 08-03
did the dancers know they were going to die and decide to be immortalised like that? And there's a mysterious machine that is Still Doing A Thing. This is all decent stuff for a larger dungeon where I'd not gotten bored with the concept and was in fact still developing the concept.
