a crazy new concept - xp for experience
Another thing I have been doing in my Pathfinder game is taking a radical new approach to the awarding of experience points. Instead of awarding XP for murder or burglary, or to be fair as well as that or the whole game would break down, I'm awarding experience points for experiencing things.
Did you meet new people? Did you visit a new place? Did you try a new food? Did you go to a gallery or listen to some poetry by a goblin? Great, you get XP for that. In terms of numbers I usually just add the 10 XP "minor accomplishment" for each, no matter how small, but if it was quite significant, there might be the "moderate" or "major" ones.
I can't see a downside to this. "Oh this will just lead to players grinding XP by talking to people and exploring and trying to eat as many new things as possible" oh no
